Philippine Politics
I don’t normally give my opinion about current events in the country. Actually, i don’t really blog about this stuff. However, there are just so many things about Philippine politics that irritate me. I often think that these traditional politicians (TRAPO) are ONE of the major reasons why the country is not progressing.
Let me just share my views about the people in the photographs above.
1. President-Criminal-President?
Where on earth will you find someone who was found guilty of plunder, and now running again for presidential position? maybe he has a foreign idol who did the same thing before. pero kahit na!! hello?!
and i guess, those who will vote for him are either his “followers” who aspire for fame/power/influence or money perhaps, or those na tatanga-tanga or nagbubulag-bulagan lang talaga. PEOPLE WAKE UP!
2. Political Party hopping
Parang block hopping lang sa college e noh? I think this definitely contradicts the existence of political parties. Each party has its own beliefs and principles. Ganon lang ba kadali magpalit ng principles and beliefs na given your years of government service, you have been concretizing the beliefs of the opposing party? Obviously (but they surely refuse to admit so), they’d switch to the party where they have more chances of winning. Some of them would even “SACRIFICE” their political ambitions to give way to someone who “deserves” the position more. Purket anak ng presidente dati, presidentiable na?! Noynoy Hype? Kay noynoy tayo kampi.
3. Away noon. Kampi ngayon!
In line with #2, there are also those politicians who have that strong desire to LEAD THE COUNTRY. We remember that she was even one of those who voted Manny Villar out as Senate President. But now, she is his partner… his vice president… his friend. Nice. User much? or in business, that’s what we call “Strategic alliance”
4. We are Family
Filipinos are known to be family-oriented. Maybe this is why in showbiz and politics, magkakamag-anak lang din mga tao. Sotto, Salvador, Cojuangco, Cruz, Marcos, Aquino, Roxas, Estrada, etc. At dahil ba president ng Pilipinas nanay mo, kailangan ikaw na pumalit? Do you really have what it takes to be the president of the country? Please enumerate all your contributions and the laws you approved. I’m not underestimating your capabilities, but i just haven’t witnessed your concrete efforts before. I was searching the internet, but what flashed into my eyes were your political ads. Pero i’m excited, btw. If you win, Kris Aquino will be your spokesperson! :)) love it.
At the end of the day, it all boils down to the people. the masa. the Filipinos. If we let ourselves be fooled by their ads and promises, then again, i foresee another Edsa Revolution. I am starting to feel that impeaching presidents is becoming one of our hobbies and pastime. What’s new?
Moreover, parang nagiging business nalang tong politics. we all know that a number of business investors and influential people are behind these parties. They’ll invest kung saan sure win and sure may benefit sila.
However, media plays a major role in this situation as well. I notice that napakaikli ng attention span ng mga Pilipino, at lalo pa itong pinapalala ng media. Issue now. Big hype. Impeach impeach! New issue. New hype. Nakalimutan old issue. wala na. Politics ngayon. Impeach bukas. Ano na lang ang kinabukasan ng bayan?
Well, this is it. I stressed what i have to say. and it feels good pala.
